In the face of climate change, misuse of power, and increasing disregard for human rights, our work has never been more urgent. Join Global Witness as an Amazon Investigator to help us stop the destruction of climate critical forests.
About us
Global Witness protects human rights and the environment by confronting corruption and challenging the systems that enable it. We’ve been creating change for over 20 years, from alerting the world to blood diamonds to stopping forest destruction.
About the role
Our climate-critical tropical forests are being destroyed and the financial sector is playing a key role by ignoring the unsustainable practices of the agricultural commodities driving deforestation.
With an initial focus on the Brazilian Amazon and agricultural commodities in the region you will deliver and publish investigations to raise awareness globally about the rapid destruction of the world’s remaining tropical forests. These investigations will support our advocacy objectives and shape campaigns that target the role of private finance in driving deforestation.
About you
Fluent in Portuguese and English with a journalistic or investigative background in climate change or deforestation and ideally knowledge of agricultural supply chains in the Amazon. You will bring experience of conceiving, planning and carrying out investigations coupled with the ability to work collaboratively with a diverse range of people and perspectives.
Working for us
