IMPORTANT:  This Advertiser has requested that applicants MUST be National Residents / Valid Work Permit-holders.  Other applicants need not apply.

The British Antarctic Survey (BAS), part of the Natural Environment Research Council, aims to undertake a world-class programme of scientific research, and to sustain for the UK an active and influential regional presence and a leadership role in Antarctic affairs.

The Post is required to provide dedicated administration and data input support for Continuing Airworthiness (Overseas Territories Aviation Requirements 39) to maintain the Approval for OTAR 39 for the four Twin Otters.

This function is within the British Antarctic Survey Air Unit and is in support of the UK Polar science programme. Consequently, the broader role will include input of operational and engineering/maintenance data for the whole BAS fleet - Twin Otters and DASH 7.

The role requires a close attention to detail and accurate transcription of data. This function is considered critical to the on-going operation of the unit. The post holds responsibility for accurate record keeping for both the aircraft and unit resulting in the ability to support the ongoing airworthiness of the aircraft and the ability of the Crews to legally fly the Aircraft.

It offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic and close knit team that includes engineers, pilots and the wider Operations team enabling the delivery of the UK science programme both in the Antarctic and Arctic.
