Role Title: Air Quality Monitoring Analyst
Salary range: starting at £14,000 and progressing up to £18,000 dependent on experience, and on successful completion of training period. We manage an extensive range of air quality monitoring services for national and local government customers and devolved administrations and private sector clients. We provide quality assurance and control services for the National Ambient Air Monitoring Networks, National Air Pollution Forecasting Service, Communications of Air Quality Information Service and Regional Monitoring Networks. We have ambitious growth plans and are now seeking to increase our team of field based monitoring analysts.
Purpose:
As a field based analyst, you will be responsible for ensuring that the measuring equipment for air pollutants across the UK is providing the correct results and giving reliable estimates of air quality for our customers. This involves the on-site testing and calibration of measuring equipment and subsequent data processing, conducted to strict quality requirements.
You will also be required to manipulate data into different formats, calculate emissions and enter data into various assessment models. It would be an advantage to have an understanding of current air pollution problems and legislation aimed to address these issues. All new members to the team will be fully trained. The work will require significant travel, including up to 4 overnight stays per week.
Key accountabilities:
The testing, calibration and documentation of air quality measuring instrumentation across the UK Liaison with site operators to arrange visits Data processing and reporting Preparation of data for publication on the Defra Air Quality website http://uk-air.defra.gov.uk/
Key competencies and experience:
• Educated to a minimum of A-Level in Physical Sciences or Engineering; degree level education is an advantage, but not essential • Full, clean UK driving licence - ability to drive a Company van • Good level of physical fitness in order to be able to load and unload monitoring and testing equipment • The ability to conduct research, gather and analyse data accurately and methodically
