African Conservation Lecturer

The candidate will be responsible for delivering the established and accredited Bushcraft Training and African Conservation lecture series and manage the on-site database hosted by Wildlife & Ecological Investments for Operation Wallacea Expeditions in South Africa.

Key Duties:

  1. Deliver the African Conservation Course and Bushcraft Training Course to university students and mark test papers at the end of the students training.
  2. Assist with presentations to Reserve managers and other stakeholders.
  3. To train incoming groups in the survey methods.
  4. Design and facilitate student workshops, presentations and other interactive learning tasks.
  5. Help make sure that data from the surveys is entered into the database whilst onsite.
  6. To undertake such other operational duties on site as may be required for the safe and efficient running of the research and volunteer programme.                                              

Requirements:

  • Minimum Masters degree in Conservation Biology or other related subject.
  • Ability to interact with volunteers (college and undergraduate university students) in the field.

Experience:

  • The candidate must have the ability to confidently deliver lectures.
  • Field experience in Africa will be advantageous.

Remuneration

  • A R7500 stipend will be paid. All meals, camp accommodation, on site transport and park fees are also provided.
