Description

World Wildlife Fund (WWF), the world’s leading conservation organization, seeks a Program Officer for the Africa Biodiversity Collaborative Group (ABCG), a consortium of seven U.S. based non-governmental organizations (NGOs) with field programs in Africa. Under the supervision of the ABCG Coordinator, assists with the planning, coordination, communication and implementation of program priorities and activities in areas of assignment. Assists with program and project management by responding to requests for oral and written information. Works directly with members, project personnel, grantees, donors, consultants and others to facilitate coordination, communication, and regular reports. Assists with fundraising proposals and reports. Prepares scopes of work, budgets, and administrative information for contracts and to ensure compliance with donor requirements.

ABCG comprises African Wildlife Foundation, Conservation International, the Jane Goodall Institute, The Nature Conservancy, Wildlife Conservation Society, World Resources Institute, and World Wildlife Fund. ABCG’s mission is to tackle complex and changing conservation challenges by catalyzing and strengthening collaboration, and bringing the best resources from across a continuum of conservation organizations to effectively and efficiently work toward biodiversity conservation in Africa. 

The position works closely with ABCG Member Organizations, USAID’s Biodiversity Analysis and Technical Support (BATS) program, and other partners in the U.S. and Africa.

A Bachelor’s degree is required. A graduate degree in a related field is preferred, such as natural resources management, environmental science, international development, or conservation policy. Position requires three years of experience in biodiversity conservation and understanding of international conservation issues. The successful candidate will have the ability to operate with independence, under pressure, to meet deadlines and commitments. Proficiency in MS Excel, basic HTML and social media are a plus.
