Conservation International (CI) is known for using science-driven approaches to guide conservation resources to the places where they can have greatest impact. We have recently expanded our work to more directly address the benefits biodiversity conservation provides to people. Accordingly, we are adapting our priority-setting approaches to consider human needs for freshwater, climate, food, and health security, cultural services, and other benefits to human well-being as they relate to biodiversity conservation.
CI’s Conservation Priorities and Outreach team seeks expertise in biodiversity and ecosystem services to fill an Advisor position in our Science and Knowledge Division (S&K). S&K has substantial expertise in fields including biodiversity conservation, ecosystem services, and climate change. The successful candidate will conduct strategic research on the interplay between these fields to help develop CI’s priority setting frameworks – the science-based approaches that identify places where we can move toward conservation goals most effectively. S/he will lead and support high-profile dissemination of findings, create and manage research institution partnerships in related fields, collaborate closely with CI’s headquarters and field divisions, and provide analytical support to the development of CI’s new approaches to priority-setting at both global and landscape/seascape scales. This is a high-profile position within a fast-moving, visionary, and effective conservation organization, sought to advance and integrate our work from species and habitat conservation to human well-being, and related fields.
