Description |
Our Conservation Officers provide advice and develop projects to protect and enhance wildlife in the wider countryside. Candidates will need to have a good understanding of general ecology, and its application in the real world, but will be expected, with suitable training, to develop a focus on agricultural or freshwater ecology, or development planning and wildlife. Bedfordshire is a rich and varied county, with major areas of chalk grassland, heathland and ancient woodland. The county’s rivers and their associated habitats are significant features for wildlife, and will form the backbone of emerging local nature recover strategies. It is also a county under considerable stress from development pressure, and where accessible habitats are under high recreational pressure. Successful candidates will join our existing Wider Countryside Team to make Bedfordshire a better place for wildlife and they will work closely with our Nature Reserves and Community and Wildlife Teams. Equality Diversity and Inclusion Statement“We’re wild about inclusion! We want our people/staff to be as diverse as wildlife. As an inclusive employer we recognise that our workforce needs to better reflect the communities in which we live and work. We actively encourage applications from people of all backgrounds, identities and cultures. We believe that a diverse workforce will help us create our vision of ‘people close to nature, with land and seas rich in wildlife.” Additional information
