The Sustainability Assessment Unit provides independent knowledge-based support for the conception, development, implementation, and monitoring of European Commission policies for sustainable development and natural resources efficiency. With its interdisciplinary team of ecologists, technical scientists and economists, the Unit provides research and technical support within the European Commission for the assessment of current impacts and benefits, as well as for the analysis of future scenarios and forecasting the sustainability of the use of natural resources. It also supports the translation of strategic European Commission objectives related to sustainable growth into short term policy choices taking into account social, economic, and environmental considerations, in the EU and global contexts. In the context of the project, the objective for the candidate is to support the compilation of synthesis reports on methodologies, models and analytical capacity used in sustainability assessment, as well as to participate in the development of a concept for an European sustainability footprint. ?
