Summary:

We are seeking an experienced, hands-on Electrical Cost Estimator to act as the primary electrical estimator for the North America Commercial Business Unit, focusing on large-scale solar installations on businesses and governments through the continent. 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Support the Estimating & Sales team during Proposal preparation/bidding response by reviewing bid documents and RFPs, establish WBS (Work Breakdown Structure) to reflect manner in which the work will be performed & use the company’s cost estimating model to estimate electrical project costs based on preliminary project information and draft engineering design packages.
Prepare quantity take-offs and costing, including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontract costs, for electrical trades. 
Maintain and improve the company’s electrical estimating framework within the larger estimating models and databases to create detailed cost estimates and project budgets. 
Support company-wide Cost Reduction initiatives and participate in the Entitlement budget process as needed.
Ensure that project costs are properly categorized and that a feedback loop mechanism is in place to compare and adjust estimating costs vs. actual project costs (i.e. production rates, cost of materials, etc).

Qualifications:

Minimum 5 years of professional work experience providing electrical cost estimating and cost control services for construction projects, having a clear understanding of how field activities are performed, measuring production rates, estimating and project controls processes.
Candidate must have a strong knowledge of Low and Medium Voltage electrical distribution systems as well as Familiarity with Overhead Transmission and Distribution.

Must be able to understand and interpret Electrical Single line diagrams, as well as engineering drawings and specifications.
Must have extensive hands-on knowledge of principles and concepts of cost engineering as they relate to budgeting, monitoring and tracking actual costs, change orders and forecasting. 
Great interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written), the ability to interface and influence at all levels of an organization.
Ability to thrive in a deadline-oriented, fast-paced environment.
Experience implementing processes, procedures and methodologies.
Hands-on experience with MS Office suite products, SalesForce.com, Primavera tools and off-the-shelf cost estimating applications (i.e.U.S. Cost, Timberline, WinEst)
