Assistant Ecologist

About the role

Main responsibilities:

  • Provide support to the wider ecology team.
  • Assisting with fieldwork and a variety ecological surveys.
  • Assisting with mitigation surveys.
  • Compiling, analysing and interpretating survey data.
  • Producing and contributing to technical reports
  • Assisting with any other ad hoc duties as provided by the ecology team.
  • Mainly based in the South-West region.

About you

Experience :

  • Knowledge and experience of the ecology sector with approximately 1 years experience.
  • Understanding of ecological legalisation for development.
  • Good understanding of British Wildlife Legislation and survey best practice.
  • Competent in the use of Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.
  • Previous experience in conducting surveys and Ecological Clerk of Works with a minimum of 1 years experience. (desirable)
  • Experience with Water Voles and Reptiles would be advantageous. (desirable)
  • Experience with GIS (desirable).

Qualifications:

  • Educated to degree or in an ecology related subject.
  • Qualifying membership of CIEEM or equivalent.
  • CSCS card (desirable)
  • Full UK driving licence and use of own vehicle.

Skills and behaviours:

  • Having the ability to organise, manage and prioritise workload to meet tight deadlines.
  • Excellent written and communication skills.
  • Confident, self-managing, able to work on own initiative.
  • High attention to detail.
  • The ability work well as part of a team.
  • Passionate about ecology and a keen interest in wildlife.
